No recipe this time, we get a week off from cooking…here in the real world that is called “in your dreams” or vacation! With summertime here I had a little free time and decided to make my own “wall décor” for my bathroom. As some of you know by now crafts, as well as recipes, have to be easy, fast and did I already say easy? So here’s what you need…
1 blank canvas
Paint color or colors (Acrylic paint, under $1)
Burlap garland or ribbon (any size, mine was 5inches wide)
First, paint your canvas; go solid, use stripes, polka dots…be creative! Then let canvas dry a few hours or over night. Next, cut a piece of burlap and secure the cross to the back of your canvas, top to bottom (hot glue or staple gun). Finally, tie a knot with another piece of burlap near the top of the cross and secure that piece to the back of canvas. Viola!! Masterpiece!!
This would be a great craft to do together with your children. As you’re working you can share what the cross means to you. You know, sometimes it’s easier to talk to our children when our hands are busy. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 tells us that we are to share God’s Word with our children all of the time…”Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and your gates.” Show Jesus to our kids; tell them about our walk with our living Savior. Well I’ve got to go, my daughter is home for the summer and we have to make another cross. Good thing we have two more bathrooms!
Try this and send us your pictures. We would love to hear from you.
