He is not here; He has risen! This is a really neat way to explain the resurrection to your kids. When I say kids, I mean 24 year-old kids like me, too. You can ask my husband. I loved making these and couldn't wait to open the tomb! Jesus' resurrection was not wasted on me! I made these with a stick of butter (melted), cinnamon and sugar (1/4 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon), a tube of crescent rolls and marshmallows.

Ok, are you ready for your new favorite dessert? I feel like I’m always eating this Strawberry Shortcake Trifle around this time of year. My mentor in high school, Nancy Clinkscales, would make a special dessert for each girl in her group for their birthday. Some girls would request chocolate cake, some would request cookies, but I always requested this. Most people use angel food cake when they make strawberry shortcake…uh huh. Not Ms. Nancy. She uses yellow cake. It adds a new flavor to the classic dessert and soaks up the whipped cream and strawberry flavor. Delicious.
After I graduated, Mom started making it for me for my birthday. When Drew and I got married, Mrs. Louise surprised me and had it as one of our desserts at our rehearsal dinner. You know, along with the big blue Nike cake that Drew requested…but that’s a different story. |
