With Thanksgiving upon us we are reminded of all of the things we are thankful for and for all of the blessings we have had throughout the past year. This is also the beginning of that often stressful Holiday Season. You know, that time of year when we are so busy with preparing special dishes, planning special occasions, looking for special ideas and making our homes a special place so that the family holiday time can be……well, SPECIAL!!! As busy moms we often miss the whole holiday itself and the meaning behind it. So here is an idea I found to help remedy that, a Thankful Wall. Place a designated “wall” in your home just to be reminded of what we are thankful for and as things come to mind, you and your family place them on the wall. At the end of the day (or week) review what has been put on the wall and say a family Thanksgiving prayer for all of the blessings that were posted. Remember, God is present in our every day lives and therefore we should be thankful for everyday things; like chocolate, pets, children who do their homework, etc. Don’t judge items on your wall, this is a time to just be thankful “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Here’s how to get started… designate a location in your home such as a poster board, bulletin board, chalkboard, refrigerator, or an actual wall. Write Thankful Wall on your space and get busy being thankful. Write words, use pictures, be creative. You and your family will be so busy being thankful that you might actually enjoy the holiday! With a grateful heart, Lisa
