In keeping with our Advent theme for the month of December we will feature one activity a week to work on with your family. We might have an art activity, suggest a special treat to make, or just tell you about a fun project to do together. We will also suggest one story a week and list some Christmas songs to enjoy that embody the theme. So watch every week to make sure you don’t miss our Advent blogs and Mom 2 Mom activities. It is our prayer that these will help you and your family prepare your hearts for Christmas and truly celebrate Jesus’ birthday!
Story for the Week: Read a nativity story. Choose one from the list of Christmas stories on our blog page or read from Luke 2:1-20.
Songs to enjoy: Hark the Herald Angels Sing”, “Angels from the Realms of Glory”, “Angels We Have Heard on High”
Spray paint (optional), glitter Ribbon with wire
String (for hanging)
Wooden balls (for head)
Moss for hair
Spray paint a pinecone or cover it in glue and sprinkle with glitter. This is your Angel’s body. Let it dry completely before adding the ribbon for the wings.
After making this cute craft help your children remember what the angel’s role was in the Nativity Story. Then let them retell or act out their favorite part. This is a great way to begin the Christmas season by reminding ourselves and our children what Christmas is truly about. “The Angel said to them, Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people .Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you; you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:10-12)
Write it on our children’s hearts and minds that the true meaning of Christmas is a baby in a manger, Jesus. Let’s adore and worship Him this year!
