I hope all of you are finding time to reflect, relax, and remember the many things we have to be thankful for this year. Thanksgiving is after all a time to reflect and give thanks for our many blessings throughout the year. It’s a time to remember from whom our blessings flow and it’s a time to relax and have some fun being thankful. How about planning a “Thankful Scavenger Hunt”. Kids of all ages can get involved and if you have drivers in your family; even better. Make a list of things you and your family are thankful for (10-20 Items). Your list will depend on the ages of your children and how far away you want them to travel to find their “thankful treasures”. You could offer a special privilege or treat for the winner.  Plan a Hunt around your house, neighborhood, town or even spice up the trip to see your family over Thanksgiving. Take pictures of your finds or make videos to enjoy later as you celebrate the winners.

First, make a sign that says, “I am Thankful for…” (To hold up in front of the items on your list). Make your list. Take a picture or video of the items with your sign, as proof of your finds. Each person can get a copy. If you have a large group, divide into teams. Have fun, be creative, but most of all, be thankful!

Being thankful and having a grateful heart is a choice, an attitude. Sometimes we get so caught up in the business of everyday activities and schedules that we forget to express our gratitude to our Father in heaven, who is the giver of all good and perfect things.  “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song.” (Psalm 28:7)  Enjoy being together. Let your children see you being thankful and singing praises of thanksgiving.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Giving Thanks, Lisa
