All right ladies, time for another book review! If you and your group of friends, large or small, are looking for a new and exciting Bible study to do together, look no further. Malachi: A Love That Never Lets Go, by Lisa Harper is awesome. Lisa is a theological scholar who, among many things, has been a past director of women’s ministry for Focus on the Family. She is currently an author, on tour with Women of Faith and a sought after speaker for women’s groups all over the country. Her ability to share her faith and knowledge of scripture in her humorous and down to earth way will keep you engaged and laughing through the whole study.
The message throughout Malachi is about grace, love, and forgiveness even on our worst and most unlovable days. Malachi brings home the fact that we are not so different from the unfaithful and obstinate bunch of Israelites during his time. People who were worthy of retribution and punishment but instead were offered this amazing and undeserved love. Malachi’s assignment was to confront the Israelites with their sins (yes, there were many) and restore their relationship with their Heavenly Father. Sound familiar? Maybe its something you might want to dig into a little deeper, if so, check out Malachi.
The study is broken up into seven weeks, but all of us found ourselves reading ahead. It is also broken up into chunks not daily studies because Lisa, in her own words, is a chunky kind of girl! The stories and insights from Lisa Harper will leave you with a fresh perspective on the book of Malachi. You will run the gamut of emotions throughout the study, but your eyes will be turned toward our Savior the only Forgiver of our sins. “I have loved you said the Lord…” (Malachi 1:2).
This is one of my favorite verses from the study; in fact, I liked it so much I framed it and gave it to each of my PSF friends.
