Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together? That is exactly what will happen this Saturday for a group of sweet friends at First Baptist Church. Several ladies were brought together through a heart for a common cause…Foster Care. This core group has already made a dent in the Foster Care System. Two children are now with forever families, Sumter has at least three new Foster families, and a few families are seeking to be DSS certified “babysitters” and long term care providers. Their passion is overflowing! These ladies have put feet on their prayers and are living out 1 John 3:17-18, “If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion-how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children let’s not just say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
The idea of a Foster Closet was born out of a great need in our community. It will be a “One Stop” place to find clothing, bags, baby paraphernalia, etc. for Foster families receiving new children. I am proud to be a part of the FBC family and with these sisters in Christ, Jesus will be made famous and His love will be shared throughout our town. Who knows where these beginning ripples will lead? So, check out their Facebook page. Let’s all put feet on our prayers!
